Who’s Got A Papillon? Training Questions…?

I’ve got a 2 year old and she can sit, lay down, shake with both paws, stay, rollover, heel, bark and be quiet on command. I want to teach fun stuff now. I haven’t found the best way to teach her to balance a treat on her nose until I give her the “ok” command. They’re such hyper dogs that it’s hard to get her to sit still. Any suggestions?
Also, any other ideas for fun tricks I can teach her?

To teach her to balance a treat on her nose will take time and in stages. The first is to teach her to only take food when you give the word to take the food. She can’t go for the food on her own, she has to have permission from you first. This is often the hardest part if your dog is food motivated. You start first on the floor, leaving the treat there and telling her to leave it whe she dives for it. And when she finally settles down and looks at you not the treat, you give her permission to eat it. That is basically how you start. Then try actually putting the treat on her nose, and telling her to leave it when she trys to eat it.
Other fun tricks that I have taught to my Pap is:
1) Bravo – the butt is sticking up in the air
2) Who would you rather be? A republican/democrat or dead – Pap plays dead rather than be a republican/democrat
3) During halloween I taught my dog to hold the bucket and actually beg for candy when I ring the doorbell. Of course I dress him up as a butterfly.
4) Currently I am going through what is considered as dancing with your dog.
I have two papillons I love the breed :-} my dogs can do basic stuff nothing really special i took dogs training classes for 4 months they will listen well , try to walk them and wear them out before you start training for ones that are more hyper it’s easyer if there tried if you have one that doesn’t have a high self -esteem then praise them as much as you can and don’t get up set with them if they don’t get what ur saying there only dogs after all but the papillon is a very a very smart breed mine love to play games like my dog knows how to play popcorn when on command you say ”popcorn” and they jump up in the air it’s quite neat there are many tricks out there. Good luck and best wishes !
one of my fav tricks my dogs used to do is BOW. u know when they bow down to stretch? every time she does that say BOW, good girl! then she will do it when u tell her to bow. my dogs were so proud of that. awwww good luck to you both
