it really depends on the dog. Train with her as long as she keeps her interest. Try and keep her interested, but if shes getting bored, give it a break. I would work with her a couple times a day, when shes calm. Not sleepy, but not bouncing off the walls either lol… When shes getting bored with it, or frustrated then stop. When she gets it and wiggles her butt u know you are getting somewhere.
I would just use lots and lots of positive reinforcement.
dont have a papillon, but i hope that helps

Hi! Well done for choosing a Papillon – they are one of the 10 smartest breeds and she’ll be great at tricks given time.
First off you’ve only had her a short while, so she’s still getting used to you and her new life, especially since she is a little older then the usual new arrival (puppies settle faster). First off, teach her the basics (sit, stay, lie down, ect) and give her treats as rewards and plenty of praise. Spend as much time as you can, these dogs love attention and learning. Remember not to ‘tell her off’ if she gets it wrong, but use positive reinforcement instead – this will also result in you guys bonding which is another big help when it comes to giving her commands. Remember the trick can be as silly or odd as you want – know dogs who bring tissues when their owners pretend to sneeze, and dogs who fetch beer out of the cooler when their owners say ‘thirsty’!!!!
Just remember it will take time. She hasn’t been around people who didn’t care to spend the time to teach her, and that will make you’re guys time together all the more special.
Good luck! Like I said, she’ll be a super smart dog so it’s going to be easier tehn you think!

Well i have a pitbull who is now 7 months and is very smart. She was so clumbsy when she was lil and now she is a genius. Everyday i would spend 15-20 Mins a day with no one around and absolutly no distractions. Because if there is she will ignore you and you will end up getting frustrated.
    - Hope Everything works out!

First thing first. You should enroll in a good obedience school to learn about dog behavior and how to teach and correct your dog. Learn basic obedience first then on to the tricks.

Dogs lose interest pretty fast…. i would say maybe work with your dog for 10 minutes at a time…then you can do that a couple times a day. Your dog will pick things up fast if your commited to working with him.. good luck! :)
