What Is The Best Way To Potty Train A 4 Month Old Puppy?

I am getting a 4 month old Papillon puppy and she’s not fully house broken. I am considering crate training her or keeping her in my kitchen with a baby gate and litter box training her. I know that both options have certain drawbacks. Is it possible to do both? I would be inclinded to lean towards litter box training her so that I could have her go inside if I am forced to leave her for a long period of time or am traveling with her.

i have a 6mths papillon ive had her since she was 3mnths and i take her outside to go potty but right wen she comes inside she will use tha restroom idk wat to do? my parents get mad alot for it! she is a great dog she is very crazy & loves to run &play i wouldnt trade her for any dog i just dnt know wat to do anymore & also if i open the front door she will run off but if i open da back she will just run around but if she finds a whole she’ll run off do u know how i can stop her from running & hope she’ll just walk next to me. if yha can answer both of my questions dat will be great!

My mother-in-law (who is my landlady) bought a papillon from a petstore, about eight months ago. She admits the puppy was an ‘impulse buy’, but loves him a great deal. I don’t believe in buying from petstores, and I’d thought she didn’t either, but this puppy reminded her of a dog she’d had before, so she bought him the day after she saw him.
The problem is, he runs wild. My significant other and I attempted to crate-train him when he was a puppy, but my mother-in-law didn’t like the idea of him being in a cage for any length of time, so she sold his crate and pen, and no more training was done. She does not discipline him at all, and he runs wild. He plays rough with the cats, steals food, and destroys everything in his path. I don’t think it’s fair to him to let him go without structure and training, but I don’t know how to train him alone, if no-one else will enforce anything. What can I do? I love this dog, but he ruins everything, and needs discipline.

If A Papillon Puppy Growls When You Try To Take Something Away, How Do You Train Them To Stop?

Whatever you do don’t jump away and show fear. It will encourage more aggressive behavior.
Calmy keep your hand above the toy to block your puppy from it.
If your dog is play growling it will immediately back away from the toy.
If your dog seems to get more intense it is challenging you. (you may get bit but it’s a puppy now so it won’t hurt. If you get bit stay absolutely still and act like the biting doesn’t hurt you at all) Use a loud noise like a horn or someone behind you clapping assertively to distract your dog and snap the nasty thought from it’s mind. Calmly take the toy and when your dog is calm give it back.
Just practice constantly taking your dogs toys and food to get him used to it.

How Do I Crate Train My 7 Month Old Papillon?

I have a 7 month old papillon that I leave in the cage when I’m not home. I leave a water dish and wee- wee pad down. By the time I get home he flips over the water bowl and tears up the wee- wee pad , and lays in his own urine. I can’t give him a bath everyday because his skin will dry out but I don’t want him to smell. What can I do so he uses the crate like a bed?
