My 4 Month Old Papillon Is Being Aggressive At My Dad And Just Tried To Bite Him. Help?

My 4 month old male papillon loves everyone and covers them with kisses. Except my dad. My dad loves animals and it bothers him that the puppy hates him. He tried giving him treats and toys but it hasn’t helped. It started with just barking and growling while hiding behind me, but now he tried to bite him. I have been strict and tell him no over and over when he barks and growls but it has not worked. Help please!!! how should I handle this and train my puppy so he is not aggressive?

Problems With My Papillon. Please Helpp?

Boomer my papillon is a pure bread dog. Or so I though… When I got him, I was told that he was 18 months, and when I took him to the vet, I was then told that he is closer to 3-5 years, and also imbread back down the line.. something with his grandma…
I fell in love with my boomer, he is so sweet. I asked a question before about him, because he is hard to train.. I was told by a dog trainer that its the imbreeding.
Now my problem is he doesn’t quite understand his toys. Isn’t sure what to do with them.. He would will run and play keep away from me and my boyfriends kitty. And he will play with our clothes, anything he can find. Sometimes he will run in the bedroom and come out dragging a shirt thats twice his size. He couldnt care less about a ball, chew toy, rope toy, or anything…. just clothes.
I tried smaller balls to fit his mouth better, but he just doesn’t care.
How do I get him to want to play with his toys, not chew my clothes…

Does Anyone Know Any Breeders Selling Newborn (1day – 2 Weeks Old) Papillon Puppies At A Cheap Price?

I live in San Jose, CA. And i’m planning to get a papillon as a companion. I don’t mind driving.. about 1 and a half hour max. to a local papillon breeder if the price of the papillon is low.
When i say low.. i mean about… $200-$400.
But, since i’ve been searching throughout most of the online puppy selling websites. I already have some experience on what the price range of papillons. There are some that are… 4+ weeks old that are $500 ( shipping included), which i actually don’t mind, other than the case that it’s 4+ weeks old. I’m planning to order a papillon puppy before hand. Meaning before it’s 7-9 weeks old and ready for shipment. Because i have school. and i’m planning to receive the puppy and train it during summer break. Which is around… Early July. So…
Normal Local price that i’m looking for (w/o shipping, just drop by purchase) is about $200-400.
Then for Purchasing the puppy online, i perfer to pay.. around $400-500 total.. which means shipping included.

Papillon Owners..help Me?

Lately i’ve been thinking about papillons.
because i took care of my neighbors for a day and my dad (who usually doesnt like dogs)
said that he would like to have one. the one i took care of was perfect.
he was so cute and smart. he was still a puppy and didnt know any tricks but sit, and in 1 day i taught him now to lay down :]
so, i’d like all the ups and downs of owning them.
i already know that they are hyper, sometimes hard to potty train, and not very much like lapdogs (i’ve heard a few people say they are like mini border collies)
do they shed alot? are they very expensive to own? are they really fragile?
aare they OK for first time dog owners, that are researched on the breed and pretty much know what they’re doing?
are they hard to find (like breeders?)
i havent ever owned a dog before. and my dad has said no to most of the breeds i’ve wanted.
but he really liked that papillon, so i want to know if they are good for me ^_^
thanks everyone.

Papillon Or Cavalier?

We’re getting a puppy, but we’re not sure what breed to get. We’re tied between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Papillon (Butterfly Dog).
We want a lively, but calm dog, a dog that is easy to train, a dog that doesn’t have a huge amount of health problems, a dog which I can groom every day, a dog that is quiet or can be very easily trained to be quiet and a dog which we can take on long walks.
We don’t know what breed to get. My parents want a Cavalier, but I would prefer a Papillon. Plus, I want a light, easy to control dog.

Papillon Or German Shepherd?

So I want another puppy and I already have two Golden Retrievers. One is about 70-80 pounds and the other 60-70 pounds… At first I wanted a German Shepherd because my dad really likes them and wants one… we are very active people and go for walks and exercise a lot but we do leave the house an awful lot during summer but my parents bring our goldens to work everyday except summer they leave the dogs with me because I stay at home during the summer but we go on vacation at least once during summer. But anyway today I might have made another decision … I was looking at getting a papillon. I haven’t told my parents because they are not fond of small dogs but I think they are adorable and fit our life-style and are easy to train which is good for our hectic life-style. But I have a few questions.. do they bark a lot? Do they shed a lot? So I was wondering which dog do you think I should get? although im not so sure i can convince my parents to get a little dog *haha* and I have looked online everywhere but cant find a good breeder near NY.. vermont or any state next to NY is good too.

Could Someone Give Me Some Housebreaking Tips For A Papillon?

I got my papillon puppy yesterday and so far everything’s been great. She has a wonderful temperament, is extremely intelligent and playful and is simply a perfect bundle of fur. Of course, as with all young puppies, my little Lilou needs to be housebroken. I know I’ve not had her for very long so I can’t expect too much, but I’d like to start off on the right foot (or paw, =P) so things don’t become a disaster later on.
I’m crate training her, and so far she’s been fantastic. She hasn’t soiled her bedding yet, even when I feared she wouldn’t make it through last night. However, I’m still having some small problems with the housebreaking process, especially with predicting when she needs to go.
Many books and various websites recommend to take a puppy out to the toilet /immediately/ after they’ve eaten, after they’ve woken up in their crate, after playing, after exercising, before they go to bed… etc. And the key word is /immediately/. Lilou doesn’t eliminate immediately; she doesn’t eliminate five minutes later; she doesn’t eliminate ten minutes later; she doesn’t eliminate fifteen minutes later, and all this means that taking her out immediately has no effect. I can’t predict when she will eliminate, and it’s not possible for me to hover over her twenty-four seven. She’s about ten weeks old, so does anyone know (or at least have a vague idea) how often I /should/ take her out rather than immediately after everything?
Also when I do take Lilou out, she gets distracted. Okay, sure, many puppies get distracted, but how do I fix this? She loves to play and every time I take her to the grass area where I want her to do her business, she runs off and goes to chew grass. I can’t get her to stand still and I wait for an eternity, outside, for nothing. Last night I was outside with her for a full two and a half hours until half past eleven when I gave up and put her in her crate. She eliminated this morning at six. While that was lucky, that won’t be the case during the daytime when she’s taking three meals a day with water always available.
I know I might sound to some of you that I’m expecting my puppy to be perfect, but I’m telling you right now that I’m not. I just want to know if I’m doing anything wrong so I can fix it early and therefore train my puppy better.
Any tips and suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Papillon Barking?

My husband and I have a 3 1/2 month old Papillon. We love her to death but she is quite a barker and starts to get a little too agressive with us when she wants to play. She will jump on us and start grabbing my hair if she can get to it and whipping her head around. She barks and starts nipping (playfully usually) and growling. I am just wondering if anyone has any training tips on how to maybe quite her down and relax her a bit. We do have her in puppy class so she is starting to learn to sit, watch us, come and drop it. When she gets worked up like this though she pays no attention to anything we say. We try ignoring her and she just gets worse. Help!

I Want To Start Showing My Papillon Puppy, But I Don’t Know Where Or How To Begin. Any Pointers?

I want to enter my 8 month old Papillon puppy in some dog shows, but I’m so confused. I have no idea on where to train her or in what areas I need to focus on for competition. I’m a true beginner, so any training tips would be awesome! I almost just want to take her to a personalized trainer who knows how to train top quality show dogs and pick her up when its over. I don’t even know what I as her handler would be expected to do. HELP!
