Crate Trained Dog Keeps Peeing On Things After Just Being Let Out?

My boyfriend has a Papillon that is just over a year old and has been neutered for about 3 months. He’s been cage trained since he was a pup. He always goes to the restroom when he goes outside. The dog is so infuriating though because we will have just let him out to pee and not 30 minutes later he’s peeing on the floor. We scold him and he goes right back in his crate, but he never seems to learn.
Here’s a recent example; The dog stays in his crate while we are at work. As soon as I got home I let him out to pee, he goes about his business no problem, and I leave him out in the kitchen to play. I play with him with his squeaky bone and keep an eye on him. Not 40 minutes after having gone out to pee he stops out for the middle of nowhere and pisses all over the floor. We know he does not have a urinary tract infection and he already peed a ton outside so I have no idea what the problem is. He gets scolded with “Bad dog”, “no” and is put back in his crate.
Btw do not mention taking him outside after he has already peed on the floor, this doesn’t work. Any ideas?

I’ve Just Rescued A Mom & Her 2 Pups. I Need To Crate Train Them But I Have No Idea How Big A Crate I Need.

This is not a large-breed dog. The mom is a Papillon mix and the dad was a medium-sized poodle-mix. I’ve allowed the pups and mom to have free reign of the apartment, with disasterous results. I love having them sleep in bed with me at night, but the “accidents” all over the apartment are horrid. Mom’s mostly house-trained. I just don’t always read her signals right. And I’m gone sometimes for hours at a time. I don’t want to put them in separate crates, but I don’t know what the best size would be. I also don’t have all that much room in my apartment for a huge crate either. HELP!!!

Crate Training?

I have a 10wk old Papillon little girl. We got her about 3 weeks ago. My husband and I are trying to crate train her but it’s not going very well. Everytime she is put in the crate she starts howling, crying, whining and barking. She pulls at the cage door trying to get out. It is absolutely horrible. The behavior has not gotten any better over time. We tried to put her in at night to sleep but forget it. The noise is even louder. If we want any sleep at all, she has to come into bed with us. She passes right out then. Yet, the other night she decided to wake up and pee in the bed!! Gross! When she has been in bed with us my husband typically gets up once or twice to take her out in the middle of the night. He just didn’t happen to wake up in time when she peed in bed. Does anyone have any advice. We go to the vet with her tonight so I will be talking to him about it as well. I am at a loss. She is so miserable in the crate! Any help?

What should I do about food and water, I read that he should only be fed 4 times daily, and after 6 months, 3 times.
Also how often should he go outside… 3-4 times daily?

My New Papillon Was Raised Sleeping In A Playpen, What Would Be The Best Sized Crate For Him?

I followed all the good advice and got a crate just big enough for him to stand up and turn around in and I think that it scares him since it is small. Would a larger crate work just as well? He is doing very well with potty training…he goes outside and does his jobs like a champ.

How Do I Crate Train My 7 Month Old Papillon?

I have a 7 month old papillon that I leave in the cage when I’m not home. I leave a water dish and wee- wee pad down. By the time I get home he flips over the water bowl and tears up the wee- wee pad , and lays in his own urine. I can’t give him a bath everyday because his skin will dry out but I don’t want him to smell. What can I do so he uses the crate like a bed?
