I think you are doing a great job. Dogs are very eager to please, and most of them can adapt to new schedules without a problem. The potty pads are excellent, so as long as you do this consistently with positive attitude and praise, he will be good on the patio in no time. Your dog is very lucky to have you. :-)

You are doing a great job with this puppy, but at this point, since he's only 3 months old, I wouldn't remove the pads from the kitchen, I would just add additional ones to the patio. That way you won't ruin the good thing you've got going now, and you can gradually accustom him to using the pads on the patio. The potty pads on the patio can be a long term solution, if you want, although I would continue to take him for walks every day, both for the socialization and exercise, and to keep him in touch with pottying on his leash. I wouldn't worry about confusing him, as long as you are consistent in the method you use, and as he gets older (9 months to a year) , you can gradually get rid of the pads in the kitchen altogether. Right now you are actually being kind to him because you aren't asking him to "hold it" the whole time you are at work. I think you've come up with an ideal plan, just try not to move along too quickly, he won't even be physically mature enough to havecomplete bowel and bladder control for a few months yet.

It sounds like problems.
Poor dog, doesn't know what would please it's owner!
Pads, patio, outside.
Stick to 1 routine and mode for during his "biz".
