Question For Papillon Owners . . .?

I am considering a puppy in this breed for my family, I was hoping someone could answer some questions for me about them:
1. How much do they shed? Will I have a hair problem, trying to keep my house clean?
2. Is this a dog that I cant trust not to take off to explore, or can I walk it without a leash (After some training of course)?
3. Can they be trusted alone for an 8 hour stint while my husband and I are working?
4. How would you rate their tendency to bark?
5. Does the long hair tangle and need consistant grooming?
6. Does this dog like to swim?
7. Is the male or female better behaved?
8. How much does this dog generally go for (Cost)?
Sorry I had so many questions. As many answers as I can get would be great. Thank you all.

1. not excessive shedders
2. no, they are not typically good off leash but with lots of training you might pull it off
3. with proper potty training, sure
4. they tend to be barkers…or yippers i should say
5. daily brushing is helpful. the hair is long and fine and will get matted if not properly cared for
6. not usually no
7. no real distinction between the two
8. anywhere between 3 and 6 hundred
Little shedding. Comb or brush frequently. Easily trainable. Like to work/play w/owner. Swimming is doubtful. They are good indoor dogs. Gender really is up to your preference. If spayed/neutered, either are easier. Otherwise mating issues result in behaviors. Can be very expensive–met one at agility trial that owner pd $3,000, for! She shows it and intends to breed. If you just want pet quality, price should be in the hundreds. Dogs w/ training can become trustworthy in the house. They are barky dogs.
