Papillon Potty Training Problems!?

My papillon is getting progressively WORSE with his potty training. More and more he is going inside as opposed to outside, and he has even started going in his kennel after only an hour! (Middle of the night he use to sleep through, no accidents)
Now will spanking his butt really affect him? I think not, let me know how you trained your seemingly hopeless pet please!

Get the dog checked by the vet and if there is no medical problem; you need to start NILIF training.
It stands for Nothing in Life is Free. The dog must start working for food – which means a walk before all meal times. Put the food down after the dog is in a sit and is quiet – then put the food down – so not let the dog eat until you have given the command to do so.
No more in the furniture or pets just because – everything must be earned.
Keep the dog on a schedule – feed at the same time – go to the bathroom after feeding/drinking water – and every 1-2 hours after that.
I would remove the water from the crate and make sure that the crate is small enough. Only large enough to lay down and turn around.
SCOLDING AND SPANKING WILL MAKE IT WORSE!

That is what is happening with my puppy. I am going insane. I was told to put him in a crate to train him, but he keeps peeing in there and making a huge mess.
Has he been checked out by your vet to make sure he doesn’t have a medical issue that is causing this?
If there is no medical reason, then you need to look at your schedules, any changes in environment, and your methods.
Hitting is never the answer.
