I took the quiz right before I got my miniature schnauzer and we are like a match made in heaven!! She was so easy to train!! They do not shed, are not hyper and are excellent with children. Yes, they can be a little harder to house train...but I am sure you will have plenty of time to take up with a dog if your mom agreed. I have a 3yr old female yorkie, she weighs 6lbs and is very smart. She sits, shakes, lays, rolls over, speak and knows 4 of her toys by name. Very easy to teach tricks. Get a yorkie. They are small, cute, loving, loyal, and do not shed. My Maltese is now 4 years old. He was relatively easy to train, and has been around my 3 year old niece since she was born. He loves to lick her, but has never tried to bite her. In fact, they are the best of friends, although we sometimes have to make sure she doesn't try to hug him too hard.
