I Want A Small Dog?????????????????
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
Okay I have two Golden retrievers and i am 14 years old. I really really really really really really X100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000… and infinity and beyond…… want a papillon! they are so adorable but i cant convince my parents to get me one.. i told them and told them how much i want one but they keep saying how annoying their barks are, they are hard to potty train, and they are hyper and annoying… i have no idea what to say to that cuz ive never had a small dog.. i think what else is turning them off is our friends have a really annoying Pomeranian that i hate so much by the way because they dont train their animals at all and it barks and pees all over and has diarrhea problems and so . idk what to do they also use my grandmas dogs for example. she spent a lot of time training them and they still pee and poop in her house (he has two Chihuahuas) and they say ohhh well little dogs can’t hold it as long as big dogs and we are gone for long periods of times a lot.. well its true my parents go to work form like 7- 5 and im in school and i play sports all year round and we go on vacation during the summer but we usually find a pet sitter from our familly usually my granma who owns the little chichi’s . Can i get a papillon or not? if so how do i convince my parents to get one??? omg i would love one sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo… much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…

Yes and I really, really, really,,,want a Dobermann, but sometimes it doesn’t work like that. It’s your parents house, your parents rule. And that can be said over and over for so many things. I know how hard the wait can be, and each time you see that particular breed, it sets you off over again…
…Sometimes you just have to face the facts as to WHY.
And from there, it’s all about patience and what you do towards getting the dog later on in life. This is coming from a 13 year old kid. So I know exactly how you feel at this point. I am in love with the Dobermann breed, so instead of wasting my time with the want of it, I have begun research early, only to await the day my dream comes true.
Trust through this one. It doesn’t work. I have asked and asked why, and when I got through the answers they gave me I finally understood.
Small dogs are quite difficult through many things including training. Yes, they bark and yes, they are snappy. It’s nature. In the meantime, focus on your current dogs. Put them through the training and sports you wish to one day do with a Papillion, because you never know, that day may never come.
I don’t think you really need a dog if your gonna be gone all the time and the reason why your grandmas dos pee on the floor is probably because she doesn’t take them outside to go to the bathroom. And little dogs need alot of love and care and if your gone all the time then you shouldnt get one. or any kind of dog or any animal.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If i were you i would be very responsible and start cleaning like a lot up after your 2 golden retrivers then make sure that they are noticing and look them up and make a little page about how they behave and give it to your parents. Put a picture of one with it and also find some good puppy training books online and show your parents. hope that helps!!
Be grateful for your two dogs and I am just getting my first one in june…….. I would love to have just one. Wait until you have the money for one on your own. Sorry if this isn’t what you want to hear, but come on. Realize what great dogs you already have.
well tell ur parents it depends on how u train them. i have a chihuahua & people say they bark a lot but mine hardly barks only when it hears a freaky sound.
try focusing on the two dogs you already have, I’m sure they would loooooooooooove some of your attention!
if you want a puppy, then i think it’s best if you have to have a VERY good quality time with your puppy so they will be loyal to you. about the pomeranian part, it’s not because of the dog’s fault….IT’S THE OWNER’S FAULT!! if you want a well-behaved dog/puppy, you have to have the patience and perseverance to train them WeLl!! unlike your friend’s dog. it’s not because of thet’re breed the dog is ke that, it’s because they weren’t trained PROPERLY.
If you really want a papillion badly, tell your parents what i said above. you can train the dog to not bark alot. you can train them. and if you’re busy with your school, try to make a schedule on when to train, play, train on tricks etc. if you ReAlLy have no time at all, maybe this yea is not best for you to buy it.
Good uck on persuading your parents. supporting 100%!!! (i have the same problem but it’s cleared up!! except for my mum….=.=)
Small dogs are notoriously difficult to housebreak.. and yes they do have annoying yaps.. small dogs tend to be yappy because they were bred also as alert dogs… they can be hyper and annoying if not given enough exercize and mental stimulation.
Sounds like your family is already living a very busy lifestyle.. you may already have enough on your hands with the dogs you do have. Besides.. what happens to the Pap when you eventually graduate and move on to college? You wont likely be able to take the dog with you… very few dorms allow dogs and there’s HUGE waiting lists of students wanting those dorm rooms.. its hard to find affordable apartments that allow dogs too.. your parents wont want to be “stuck” with the dog after you move out.
they may be cute, but they are a handful. You CANNOT treat them like a little doll, if you do they will become the dog of your nightmeres. They are hard to keep a good coat. And they are hard to keep. If you want to learn more about them, go to http://www.dogbreedinfo.com and search pomerian, once you do some research you’ll see if they are the dog for you. don’t be like other people who see them and think their cute, then baby them then when they get mean they condem them to the shelter. Besides if your gone so much, it wouldn’t be a good idea to add another dog to your group. Poms need alot of attention. I would really do research on the breed before you ask again. That way you’ll know if you want one, and then your parents may be more willing to get one
