I Am 14. I Have A 1 Yr. Old Papillon. My Parents Say I Have 2 Months To Housetrain Him. Help.!?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
He also, like most Papillons, does not like kids, and I have an 11 year old brother and a 2 1/2 year old brother. All during the day Louis ( my papillon) will play with the kids, but when he lays down on me and is napping, if my brothers touch him he growls and nips. But they aren’t just touching him, they are pulling on his ears and his tail. I mean I would bite too if I was rudely awakened. But my mother says that needs to be fixed too. I really want to keep my Papillon. Please help me with tips on house training him, and stopping his nipping. thank you.!

you need to take him outside and stay until he potties. give him a treat and alot of praise for going. after he eats and when he wakes up.
my pap loves kids, the smaller the better to lick faces. sounds as if the brothers need to be trained on how to treat the dog.
maybe if the only time he gets nippy is when they wake him up. nap away from them, like behind locked doors.
good luck and spook sends lots of licks.
Your first step is to have him neutered. Then take him to obedience class. Your little brothers need to learn not to bother the dog when he is sleeping. Dogs are a lot of work, money and commitment. As far as housebreaking, here is a link with some helpful information.http://allbreedsrescue.googlepages.com/t…
I used to have a dog that liked to nip at people sometimes, and when he did i would take him out the room and make him stay in another room for a while (witch he hated because he was all alone) and after about 3 days straight of doing that he stopped. So that may help you
out.
Sorry to say I am on the papillons side. He will not change and I don’t blame him.Whoever aloud you to have Louis needs to understand this and supervise your brothers so THEY will be trained.
when he growls say no no no then put him on the ground then if he does it again do the same thing then he will figure out that he has to be a good dog to lay on your lap
Follow your dog around everywhere he goes, if you catch him going potty on the carpet yell “no” in a very low and angry voice, then immediately take him outside to go potty. When he does go potty outside tell him he is a good boy and give him a treat.
To fix the biting just tell him no and if he continues completely ignore him. I don’t think any dog should bite anybody even if your brothers are being annoying. What if a baby just grabs his ear on accident because the baby doesn’t know any better and the baby gets hurt?
You should start pulling on your dogs ears and tail (gently of course) to get him used to it. I mess inside my dogs mouths, with there paws, there tails, ears, and just about everything to make them used to it so they will never growl or bite anyone.
Good luck
get a cap gun and pop it when ever he bites.that along with a no when u pop it.will teach the little demon to stop.and when he growls do the same thing
lucky, i am 14 and my parents wont let me have a dog
