You have to start by getting her to catch a ball or one of her toys
first. Start out by holding it while she takes it if you have to and praise
her with good catch. Get to the point where you are a few inches away
and just barely tossing it to her. This worked on my puppy. After
she is catching, here is a website that will explain how to get her to
catch a flying disk. Hope this helps…

First off it is much easier to teach this to breeds that have the ‘catch it’ and ‘retrieve it’ in their genetic make up.
The pap’s mouth is too small to catch a flying disc or frisbee without doing some damage. It waits for the toy to drop because it’s a toy breed that was bred to be a companion and lap dog – not do ‘work’.
You might want to look at a different activity like agility that would be more suited to it’s body type.
