This is from an ID name of peachesdeese. She gave me premission to include this in my puppy kit..I think it is worth wild to repeat it here everytime this question get ask which is a lot.
The best time to get a puppy is when your going to be home for a couple of days. (Like the weekend.) That way they have a little time to bond with you and they tend to listen a little better.
Potty training a puppy isn’t a matter of time….its a matter of timing.
Instead of thinking…..”Take the baby out every couple of hours” Do it this way….
When it wakes up…..take it out
When it finishes eating…. take it out
When its done playing… take it out right then
A puppy lives in the “right now” state…..
When it wakes up…al it knows is its gotta pee! And if you don’t take it right then it will pee where ever!
Same thing goes for playing and eating.
Regardless of what people say, crate training is bad for a dogs mental state. The perfect way to confine your pet from roaming your home while your gone is to put it in the kitchen/laundry room/bathroom with a baby gate. Don’t close the door. A baby get will make your baby feel less confined and the puppies mind set will be better. Give them plenty of toys and a bed on one side of the room, peepee pad on the other side of the room and food and water in the middle. (Puppies don’t normally like to poop where they sleep!)
It is possiable….with patience….to teach a puppy to use the peepee pad AND go outside.
the same exact way you house break every other breed,,, crate train, consistency, fairness, praise…. etc…. you should not have gotten puppymill/backyard breeder dogs you could be in for health problems… ( i know you did not use a reputable breeder because you would have discussed all this with them PRIOR to bringing multiple pups into your home) sorry
I think that crate training is really the best way to housebreak any dog – big or small. But, it is really important to have the right size crate(cage) and really important to only use the crate as a sancuary and haven for the dog – never use it as a punishment. remember – puppies like babies have very small bladders so you cannot expect them to hold it for very long times. go on craigslist, get yourself a crate for each dog and find a good book or dvd on how to crate train. good luck and happy housebreaking!
So far I have found this…Confinement so your dog cannot go to the bathroom in the
wrong places.
Constant or regular access to the right place to go to the bathroom.

Confinement from the wrong places
Confinement means that until your dog is housebroken, he is never allowed to walk freely around the house.
Confinement means every minute of every hour of every day — unless you are sitting with your dog, playing with him, walking him, feeding him, grooming him, teaching him something, or otherwise interacting with him.
Because if he is loose and you take your eyes off him for just a few moments, he can go to the bathroom on your floor — and the bad habit is begun.
————————————–…
Access to the RIGHT place
This means you TAKE your dog outside — or he lets himself outside through a doggy door. Or it means you provide him with newspapers or a litter box indoors. He must have SOMEWHERE to “go” — on a regular, reliable basis.
If the only place your dog has a chance to “go” is outside on a regular schedule, or on newspapers or in a litter box, that’s the habit he will develop. If you let him loose in the house, then he can GO in the house, and that’s the habit he will develop. It’s up to you!
Three ways to provide “confinement” and “bathroom access”
Confinement in a crate.
Take outside to bathroom.
Confinement in an exercise pen.
Constant access to newspapers
or a litterbox.
Confinement in a small room.
Constant access to an outside
yard via a doggy door. http://www.yourpurebredpuppy.com/trainin…http://www.showpaps.com/litterbox.htmhttp://www.showpaps.com/FAQ.htmhttp://www.yourpurebredpuppy.com/faq/pap…http://www.pixiedustpapillons.com/train_…http://www.papillonclub.org/papillonfaq.…
All of these should be free. Good luck
1st. buy a crate that is big enough for the dog to stand up turn around and lay down in but not a whole lot bigger.
2nd. get a stain and odor remover for dog urine that has an enzyme in it.
3rd. Buy Hartz Puppy pads at any Walmart
4th. use a good small breed puppy food like Eukanuba or Proplan .
It’s real important that you do not over hold this baby, they can stress out easy. Feed twice a day 1st in the am as soon as you get up. 2nd feeding in the eve around 5-6pm.
always have clean water avail for it.
Place the dog in the crate when ever you are not watching it or holding it. Place a soft towel or 1 t shirt that you had on for an hour. That way he will smell you and feel like he is with you, it also helps strentghen the bond. Get him a sturdy plush dog toy stuffed animal that he can cuddle up with in the cage. It will make him feel like he is sleeping with a litter mate.
Dogs do not like to potty wher they sleep or stand. The 1st thing in the am when you wake is get the pup from the cage and take it out to the yard or place it in the bath tub with a clean puppy pad. He will get the idea that that pad is wher to go and the tub empty will act as a play pen while you get breakfast make your coffe or what ever you do in the am., If you have an accident on the floor bloat up the tinkle on the pad, then place the pad back in the box or tub wher you want him to go. He will go back to his scent and remark the pad again. When he poops do the same thing, place it on the pad for a short time then flush the poo away. The pad will trap the smell of the urine and you can use the pad for several spots when they are that small. Got it, you need a routine and stick too it!
Good Luck!
Give it a lil’motavation speech.
