How Can I Train My Papillon Dog Not To Poop In The House? He Gets It Half The Time. Always Water Outside.?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
He is small and excitable and loves to play–A wonderful house pet and companion and has been pretty easy to train in everything but this.

Keep working on crate training. Don’t let him have free reign of the house.
It can take 6-9 months to train a dog to go outside… I always picked up the poop that I found inside and put it outside and showed the do where I put it. Sounds crazy I know but it worked after about a month of saying… “bad dog… why won’t you go outside”
The smaller the dog the harder it is to housebreak. You will have to leash him to you or crate him if you can not watch him and go back to puppy steps. Go out with him on leash and reward for pottying outside. Possibly a better brand of dog food, some cheaper ones make the dog poop alot more. Free feeding leads to accidents too so feed him twice a day and leave the bowl down for 15 minutes. Keep a potty journal, it helps to spot trends. He may tend to poop inside 2 hours after eating so you know to take him out b4 he goes..etc..
Dear Friends,
I have an american Spitz ***** named Kiera . I love her like my own daughter…………It is quite easy for you to trin for potty/poop.
Now coming to your question.
First let the dog know What does no Means & then what poop or piss is
This happens right since you bring the dog home.
My dog could understand No very well I had to slap her more than a couple of times.
She play ll the time and the moment i say NO she stops.
When she pooped I said ” What is this?” Poop! Poop! No!
Lets go for a walk.
When you do it repetitively several times, by the time your dog is 6 months he understands.
I had dogs in ast too all were trained in the similar manner.
Dogs can be made to understand
Another way is when they poop/piss at home give them a Mild slap and say “no”
But when they do it outside immediately reward them with a buiscuit or Dog Chew!
This rewarding can get results mostly and that’s what dof trainers do.
Hope it helps you to potty train your dog!
I tried my best to help!
Cheers!
I have the same problem with my teacup chiwawa x mini pomeranium. She has a big area to run around in and she poops during the day on the carpet. Puppy school told me to take it back to basics and confine her to a small room during the day until she learns.
