Is This A Good Idea For My Dog And Her Puppies?

I recently adopted a 1 and 1/2 year old golden retriever/doberman mix X AKC champion smooth collie (wonder how that happened?) When i went to the shelter i was dropping of some donations and i saw “Tia” She was very sweet and had just been dropped off. I was looking for a shelter mutt to compete in NADAC agility with. I asked about adopting her and was told she would be ready tommorow, so i signed the adoption papers. When i went to pick her up the next day i was told she had already been spayed by the people who broght her in. I checked her belly and there was a scar from where the stitches had been. The reason she was brought to the shelter was because she could not be trained and chewed everything up AKA- a very high drive dog, just what i wanted. The reason the former owners had gotten her was beacause her mom was an AKC champion smooth collie (the collies dogsitters(who was a family member) let her out in the front yard while she was in heat, she got tied with the neighbors dog, the dogsitters didn’t tell the owner and the dog had puppies at the dogsitters house and the pups were given away) They just had to have a puppy.
After i had gotten Tia home i noticed her belly was getting round. I took her to the vet and she was confirmed pregnant (wonder who was lying?) My vet told me not to do the emergency spay and i trusted him completely. So the pups are due in a few weeks. I will be giving the puppies away to free homes AS LONG as the are spayed/nutered. I will have the new owners sign my papillons pet quality contract.
Is this a good idea or should i do something else? I am also going to talk to the shelter.

How Do I Show My Puppy That I Am In Control?

I’ve only had my puppy for a week. He constantly wants my attention and if I try to leave the room or tell him not to do something, he pees in his crate. He is potty trained for the most part, and he only pees in his crate when he doesn’t get what he wants/his way of controlling me. Papillons are too smart ughhh! What do I do?! Please help! And please give tips other than just to send it to obedience school.

Do You Love Your Dogs Like I Do?

I have recently been receiving hate mail from a user on this board, currently using a name something like Much Inferior or something like that 😛 calling me names because I show my dogs love. This person thinks that anyone that LOVES their dogs is weak minded. Here is an exert from my latest hate mail:
You are INCOMPETENT to judge the truth & your pitiful attempts at preventing others from seeing are truly pathetic & sad.Just because you need the facts minced into mush, soaked in syrup & spoon-fed,doesn’t mean you can force your pablum on the rest of humankind.
This because I love my dogs.
I do not let them run wild. They are well trained and ne is a show dog. They are well cared for, eat better quality food than I do, and are a delight to be around. My vet always has nothing but good things to say about their behavior and health. They know their boundaries; misbehavior is dealt with appropriately.
I do not force them to wear clothes, nor do I carry the Papillons around in a purse. They do sleep in bed with me.
I give them hugs and kisses and they make me smile. I tell them I love them often, and show them even MORE often.
So I ask…Do you love your dogs in the same way? If not, what do you do differently?
In my opinion, anyone that doesn’t LOVE their dog doesn’t need to have one. Find another hobby. You don’t have to CODDLE them… I don’t… but I darned sure LOVE them.

Looking For A New Puppy…..?

I am considering getting a mascot for my papillons and border collies. I want a tall athletic dog. Somewhat built like a whippet, working line border collie, or kelpie (No mastiff, pitbull, or golden ret. builds). Medium length thick hair (I LOVE to groom). Very high toy drive. Can be corrected without getting it’s feeling hurt (No labs or goldens), in other words no soft and submissive dogs. I do not want a lovey dovy affectionate puts its ears back and rolls on its back when you talk to it, but more a dog that when petted and praised stands solid and holds its ears up. I want a dog that can work all day. Easily trained. High energy.
I am considering DDR german shepherds and 3 of the AKC belgian shepherds. What do you think?
I have talked to people at shows when i am not too busy showing my own dogs and everybody says the breed they show is the absolute best and sweetest breed on earth. My problem is I don’t want a too sweet dog.
In other words:
Smart
solid temperment.
Does not get feeling hurt.
Medium length thick hair.
ENERGY, ENERGY, ENERGY!
High toy/prey drive.
Athletic appearence.
Size between a border collie ans doberman.

Problem With Breeder Distance…. Help? (question Is Long.. .but Please Read It.. Thanks.)?

So, a Pap breeder contacted me saying that she had a 9 month old male that she was willing to sell to me. Here is the first email I got from her:
I saw you posted to the group and that you were or are looking for a pap for agility… I think I may have what you are looking for if you are looking for a male that is. Ringo is a beautiful Red and white with a black mask and boy is he fast.
Ringo is about 9 months old and has lots of energy. I breed only once in awhile and the sire to this little guy is only 5 pts away from his AKC championship.
His grandsire was an import and is a champion , international champion.
Shari
I emailed back:
I did want a female, but it doesn’t really matter- male will work! He looks great, how old is he?
I’m in Michigan… where abouts are you located?
She emailed back:
Ringo is about 9 months old, knows how to use the doggie door. He loves to run, he loves to love men, he is now playing with my new puppies which are 9 weeks old..an oops breeding, another story there.
I am in Enid, Oklahoma and I do ship and I have never had any trouble with air travel. I ship Delta, continental ..the cost of shipping is $275 unless you want to fly down and pick him up at the airport, which some people do.
If you want him on a limited registration I will sell him for $500, full Registration is $900.
He would make a great agility dog for sure. I just haven’t had the time or energy to sit and train them correctly. If you want to call me and talk about him my phone number is 580-242-1893.
He is up todate on shots, and he is on heart worm protection..
Shari
What do you think?
Some of the things she says… she doesn’t have the time to train them, she advertised on Puppyfind, and she had an oops breeding… makes me a bit weary of her…
I can’t go and check out her kennel or I would. (She lives in OK, I live in MI). I am going to email as many questions as possible, and I will call before buying, if I do.
I know most rep. breeders don’t use Puppyfind, but I’ve seen one or two that did…
What do you think? There’s no website for me to check out about her, I tried Googling “Shari’s Klassy Papillons”, and I got nothing.
Thanks!

Adult Dog Needs To Be Re-potty Trained… Help!?

I have a two and a half year old papillon. I recently moved back in with my parents. Ever since we moved in their home she wont stop going to the bathroom in the house. At my house she was fine and always went out side. But now no matter how many times we let her out side she still goes in. She will come in from out side and then with in minuets go in the house. At my parents house she has a much bigger back yard, and often likes to go out side. Any suggestions? Thanks!

How Can I Train My Shy Dog To Do The Weave Poles?

We’ve been at this for a LONG time, but its realy hard. He LOVES to do the rest of the agility stuff..he doesnt play with toys, so he goes all out when we do agility. When someone goes to pick him up, he yelps..hes not hurt or anything, just realy skittish. He is well socialized, but we think he might have been sat on by his mother when he was a pup. Oh, by the way, he’s a 4 year old papillon male. I would realy love to compete with him this summer, but we need to learn the weave poles.
Thanks!
